Guake is a top-down terminal for Gnome, and is highly inspirated by the famous terminal used in Quake. You can instantaneously show and hide your terminal with a single key stroke, execute a command, and then go back to your previous task without breaking your workflow.

• I find Guake very amazing as it allows me to run the instant command without hiding my current application window. Guake is one of the best drop-down Linux terminal emulators for the GNOME.
• Guake is a top-down terminal for Gnome (in the style of Yakuake for KDE, Tilda or the terminal used in Quake). You can check the screenshots to get a small feeling about it. Guake is packaged by a number of distributions, among which are Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu or ArchLinux, so please check your repo. Source tarballs are available.
• Install dconf command with sudo apt-get install dconf-cli and then reset Guake settings with. Dconf reset -f /apps/guake/ In command above the /apps is not a real folder, it is virtual path for configuration scheme (org.guake.gschema.xml in our case). We need to purge whole Guake.

Note when compiling from source

Do NOT use the Tarball packages automatically generated by GitHub on the Release pages. Theywon’t work because one of the main components of Guake build system, PBR, requires the full Githistory to be available when building from source. Note this does not impact source distributionpackages you can download from Pypi.
